TitleTowards an Intermedial Paradigm of Literary Criticism: A Review of The Evolution of Cross-media Literature and Its Production and Communication

Abstract: With the wide application of new media technologies, cross-media has become the technical context of contemporary literary practice. How to understand the cross-media production and dissemination of literature becomes an important issue for the discourse construction of literary criticism. Yu Zihan and Bao Yuanfu’s The Evolution of Cross-media Literature and Its Production and Communication explains the history of literary evolution and the paradigm of literary theory from the perspective of transmedia from the levels of literary theory and the practice of literary genres, and tries to construct a transmedia critical paradigm from the perspective of semiotics of discourse by uniting the history of literary evolution from the dimension of textual form, and the evolution of literary nature from the scene of literary practice. The book comprehensively and systematically shows the research pattern and critical paradigm of cross-media literature, presenting the powerful interpretative power of media on literary criticism.

Keywords: literary criticism; transmedia paradigm; literary practice; language-image symbols
