Title:  Life, Emotion and Contemporary Responsibility in The Fly: The Marxist Aesthetics Principles of Katherine Mansfield’s Literary Creation

Abstract: Scholars such as Ulrich Weisstein and Julia Van Gunsteren argued that Katherine Mansfield's short stories belong to Impressionist literature, but this is still open to debate. Although Mansfield did use parallax and other core techniques of Impressionist literature in her later works such as The Fly, what Mansfield emphasized was not the subjective perception of individuals, but to present the emotional connection of the people living in the post-war world. This is Mansfield's understanding of the responsibilities of an author and the embodiment of her Marxist aesthetic principles of short stories.

Keywords: Katherine Mansfield; Life; Emotion; Contemporary Responsibilities, Marxist Aesthetics
